This year we picked a few simple ideas to make our Christmas and New Years celebrations shine, with the aim of just keeping things fuss-free and stylish. Going overboard and getting stressed out was not on our to-do list and we wanted to keep it that way! We focused on little things...like cinnamon and citrus bubbling on the stove...floral ice cubes to keep the drinks cool (and mystify the guests!)....and a hessian and paper flower wreath by the door. What useful things pool noodles are! Above all we just wanted these little things to make us appreciate being at home and surrounded by those we love.
We've covered the instructions for this one in the video down below. All it takes is a few pool noodles, some hessian wrap from Bunnings, and some paper flowers and you have a gorgeous dramatic wreath!
This one is self explanatory in that you pop things that smell nice and compliment each other into a pot and let it gently bubble away, filling your house with a delicious seasonal scent. We used orange slices, rosemary sprigs, cinnamon quills, dried cranberries and some cloves. Yum!
These will be a talking point at the table! They look like frozen dinosaur eggs but each one is filled with a different type of mix of florals from the garden. I think our favourite was a dramatic purple thistle...and a soft pink and white rose.
The perfect no-bake and tonnes-of-fun Christmas cookie project for the kids! Remember kitchen benches were made to get messy so Christmas memories can be made.
This one is a great table centrepiece, but also a great kids activity! With multiple hands at work you’ll be surprised at how quickly this comes together. Then with a dusting of icing sugar, the fragrance of juicy strawberries and garden picked mint will waft across the Christmas table making you hungry for dessert!
All that matters is there are crispy golden pieces in lots of layers. Not to mention little pools of butter and garlic left behind when a potato stack has been snuck off the platter! Christmas is for indulgence, and that’s what these cheesy garlic crunchy golden amazing little stacks of humble potato are!
